Friday, May 26, 2023 - South Africa WIMPS #165 26th May 2023 (La Trompette, Chiswick): Double decanted 4 hours before broaching, threw a lot of sediment. Nose has a hawthorn, twiginess to start which fades a little to reveal some banana leaf and marzipan notes. Later some sliced plum and Christmas spice Palate has a mixture of cool green fruits and some soy richness. This is decent but I suspect one to drink up. The 15% alcohol would mean I’d never buy this today but was not as noticeable as with some wines. Served slightly cooler than the other reds and I think that helped it.
