Sunday, May 3, 2009 - Nearly decided not to take this to dinner because it took three hours for some slightly off odours to blow off. I learnt something new today in that a good aged wine does not always have a big nose. This had a subtle nose of honeycomb, earth and coffee. In the mouth there was toffee apple, mushroom, some meat, Kona coffee and great height. Well-balanced with a subtle long finish of 75 seconds. Perhaps past its best but still has significant tannins which haven't wholly softened. Memorable wine experience though.
