Sunday, January 29, 2023 - The nose immediately leaped from the glass to showcase beguiling notes of pomegranate, fruit cake, assorted herbs, and candied strawberry and raspberry. With time, star fruit, passion fruit, spice, and hints of eucalyptus emerged as well. Big, rich, and concentrated, but clearly young as the tannin/acidic structure needed 3-4 hours to settle, and the fruit to come to the fore on the palate (which was geared toward tropical red fruit flavors). The 14.5% alcohol was also notable at times as well. Good energy and tension though, just needs 5 years (min.) of bottle age to develop further. Not as good as the 2015 today, but could easily be the better wine in the years to come. 93+
