Saturday, September 1, 2018 - Very deep colour and an excellent rich nose. Opened and a small sample was tasted but the bulk was left for 24h.
Complex berry fruits, some dark cherry (with some maraschino cherry on the end taste). Integrated damson skin tannins and plenty of vanilla from the oak. Long, with good balance and acidity (some orange acidity) and very good mouthfeel. Good with food (Wagyu beef burger etc.) but very attractive and satisfying on its own afterwards. Another good vintage.
This was a bargain bottle at £8.60 at an M&S store in UK (hiding with a single 2015 at the back of a few bottles of the 2016 vintage). Somebody in a local M&S store doesn't really know how to price this wine.
