Tuesday, August 21, 2018 - Time to check in and see how this is doing. Followed over two nights and it needed a few hours to really open up. Dark and saturated ruby color with a wide fade to the rim. Medium intensity nose with some nice florals and dark berries. Young, though friendly tannins grip the palate but are not blocking the enjoyment. I didn’t expect such a subtle and understated wine but I’m no worse off for it. It’s actually quite lovely and should pick up some nice mature notes in a few years. Alcohol pretty well in check. At least one of my future bottles will be designated for a nice cut of prime rib. 4+11+16+8= 89
