Sunday, May 2, 2021 - Dark purple almost black appearance maybe due to dim lighting in a restaurant. We have enjoyed prior vintages so have it a try. Reticent nose of dark berries, very fresh. On the palate the first taste was of dark fruit but the sturdy tannins begged for more time in air. We decanted the remaining wine after two glasses and that really served to enliven the wine and smooth the tannins. After almost 90 minutes the wine gave off distinct blueberry and coffee notes. Good match for a pappardele Bolognese and my wife's parmesan crusted whitefish. Still young and can use another 2-3 years in bottle unless you don't mind decanting or aereating a bit.
