Wednesday, October 12, 2005 - If served blind, I would have guessed Aussie Shiraz (or something along the lines of Shotfire Ridge Barossa). Dark and concentrated, the nose offers aromas of raspberry liqueur, creme de cassis and vanilla/oak. Full bodied and luscious with in your face ripe fruit, and no heat (a plus). With aeration the finish becomes persistent and lengthens, though for me, this lacked the coffee/mocha element I expect in a Calif merlot. It is a very nice bottle of wine nonetheless, and for my tastes ready to drink now for its hedonistic style and fun factor...nevermind nuances.
