Wednesday, May 17, 2017 - {Winery visit} A wow-wine in the making. Striking ruby color, with powerfully fresh aromas of earth, ripe fruits and a bouquet of red and purple flowers. With some time in the glass, a certain polish sets in, the fruit becomes a little more round, but the tannins also assert themselves. This has all the hallmarks of a cellar-worthy wine. Add this to the fact that their winegrowing is all sustainable/natural, their wood treatments are older barrels, older tonneau and older grandi botti, and, to my palate, you've got the best of all possible worlds. Really, it was the freshness that kept me pinned to my seat, kept me repeatedly burying my nose in the glass. Drink 2020-2036. 14,0% abv. highly recommended

6/3/2021 6:32:00 AM - Super helpful TN; thank you, Tim. I just bought a couple of bottles of the '12, which I'm excited to try but am going to let rest for a few years before doing so. I'm looking to learn more about Taurasis (I just bought a half case of the '12 Terradora Fatica Contadina)and Etnas to add to my collection of BdMs, Super Tuscans, Barolos and Amarones and am excited about getting to S. Italy one of these days to have a chance to taste on site as I've done with the Northern and Central regions. Your notes, along with Eric Guido's, have been great as I've built my Italian cellar. Cheers!
