Saturday, February 7, 2009 - On the nose I properly would have mistanken this one for a super tuscan in a blind tasting. Lots of cassis, leather, cedar, some earthiness and "veggy"/greenish components. Full bodied. Lovely ripe fruit on the attack and smooth mouthfell. some spice, pepper and good tannins on the finish. A pleasant drink but rather boring and in my opion lacking complexity (especially on the palate), balance and personality for a wine at this price point. Come on California - drop the "makeup" and let the terroir speak!
