Sunday, February 20, 2022 - 8/2/2019, First bottle.... dark garnet color, ripe berries, oak, vanilla a classic cab, lush mouth filling. Hits all the right notes, will last 5 to 10 years.
2/19/2020..while the color and nose are superb, with notes of oak, vanilla and dark fruit, the mouth feel is less filling than expected. This is not up to the 2017 BERINGER PRIVATE RES, tasted at same time. I expected more, (this was the 1st bottle of the 2 tasted), but given its age, I thought it would edge out the 2017.
It's just not as lush, and the finish is shorter, thinner. I now think the QPR is not quite there, though it is STILL an excellent wine. I have 1 left, will wait to taste.
