Monday, August 20, 2007 - Spur of the moment decision to have with the leftover rack of lamb from last night. Have to leave in the AM for a semi-lengthy business trip so I figured that even though it was "only" Monday, it was as good a time as any to have a great drop... and I wasn't disappointed, even though minimal decanting time was given (more would obviously have been better). From the bottle it was as dark a wine as I've ever seen and the smell of sweet fruit filled the air. The longer it was given air time the more it evolved with loads of cherry, blackberry, raspberry, coffee, and oak quite noticeable on the palate. The finish was magnificent...dark, dense, complicated (if that makes any sense), yet supremely elegant. I'm SO glad I have a few more bottles of this special wine around.
