92 Points

Thursday, August 7, 2003 - Sampled (blind) at an off-line in Mexico City with Pelochain and Gusbo. Not as dark as the other two wines ('96 Orlando Lawsons and '01 Mitolo GAM shirazes), and throwing a lot of sediment. Flavors and aromas of plum, raspberry, and latté coffee. Deep and bright, this wine was very polished, with expansive fruit in the mouth. A somewhat smoky and tannic finish. Lacking the ripeness of the other two shirazes in the flight. A firm and subtle wine, more like a cab than a shiraz. Would recommend another 2-4 years aging before trying again.
