Friday, May 27, 2016 - Woah, a breath of oxidation on first pour plus a near urine color is disconcerting...but this isn't oxidized, rather it's in absolutely prime form. Guava, ocean breeze, bruleed sugar, dried apricot, really strange but disarming bouquet that reminds me a bit of old Coulee de Serrant. Salty, so salty, broad and waxy palate like Tondonia blanco but this has only the barest edges tinted with oxidation, a touch of dried grass, old oak, rindy pineapple, really deep and penetrating with acidity that builds and freshens, ending with a lick of metal. This may be one of the most uniquely enjoyable wines I've ever had. After 4 hours being open this is getting better somehow, with a profile creeping closer to a mature Corton Charlemagne, with so much power, precision, and fine oak coming together.
