Thursday, April 13, 2023 - Purchased for $29. Tasted for #tawnytuesday with some friends. Ruby tinged mahogany in color. On the nose, baked cherry, dates hints of cellar oak. On the palate, more red fruits, loads of caramel and more of that cellar oak. When I say "cellar oak", I'm not talking about the typical vanilla oak from new French oak barrels. By cellar oak, I mean that smell of walking into the lodges in Gaia. It's almost a wet basement type of note, but not in a bad way. It's looks a smell of old, wet oak. This is right in the middle of the "dry to sweet" spectrum of Tawnies. Nice acidity. Medium finish. But a bit of heat on the finish. Overall, really nice, easy-drinking tawny.
