90 Points

Thursday, December 18, 2008 - Had on the same night as a '96 Grange, and this was completely outclassed, but still good. Fruit forward nose with raspberry, garrigue, and hint of smoke. Smooth round palate, very focused, adding some fig, leather and tobacco notes, with quite a bit if heat on the back end. Finish was medium in length, not especially complex. I'm with some others questioning the aging potential of this wine, seems a little too hot and lacking structure to be as long lived as other Beaucastel's, but still a fruit forward, well made, enjoyable wine.
