90 Points

Wednesday, October 5, 2022 - was surprised when I saw I paid over $200 for this bottle... its a light vintage and the wine shows it, may also be a tiny bit shut down... very elegant, medium bodied at most at this stage, again -- shut down a bit??... enjoyable but I would have thought I bought it for $90 to be frank... have one left in off site storage, hoping I drink it in 10-12 years and it has blossomed

10/6/2022 4:46:00 AM - Cellar price is 50 - With speculation there are wines around that are definitely not worth the bucks paid if not through a regular channel....

10/6/2022 1:56:00 PM - Pstrada… what do you mean when you say the “celler price is 50”?… I looked this wine up on wine–searcher.com and the cheapest vintage was over $200, and this vintage was also over $200 for a 750ml… Let me know

10/6/2022 9:48:00 PM - I mean if you have an allocation and you can buy directly cellar door at the producer (I am on it since 2007 when no one really knew who Rinaldi was) the release price is more or less what I say. But this is the case with many other Barolo producers like Mascarello and Burlotto for example…..

10/7/2022 9:48:00 AM - thanks Pstrada... that is kinda amazing... would think everyone would try to arbitrage this... and never knew you get on a "list" overseas (tho it makes sense now that I think of it).... I'm not a list guy cuz I build up too many btls of one producer, but sure seems like the re-sale market should be lower than $250 to $300 a bottle of the list folks are getting it for $50

10/7/2022 9:51:00 AM - One more question... is that ($50'ish) roughly the price for you (given your 'on the list') for the 2018 vintage as well??... just curious cuz the lowest cost in the US for a btl of 2018 Tre Tine (on Wine-Searcher.com) is $370 !!!

10/10/2022 12:17:00 AM - I still did not pick up my 2018 allocation but if not 50 will probably be 60 or 70. Keep in mind this is the case with a lot of producers as I said, if you are on list the price to buy from the cellar is still very reasonable. It's the speculation that there is in the market that is out of this world....
But it is not only in pIedmont, Burgundy it's the same (actually probably much worse), but I thought US was the same for some of the top producers....
