90 Points

Tuesday, January 26, 2021 - Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of deep ruby colour, with fading rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of black fruit of blackberry and plum, red fruit of ripe cherries, sweet spice of clove, oak notes of toast, pungent spice of licorice, animal notes of leather. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, the wine has medium (+) tannin of ripe and silky texture, medium (+) alcohol, with medium body and medium (+) intensity flavours of black fruit of blackberry and dark cherries, oak notes of toast, kernel notes of walnut, sweet spice of nutmeg. The wine has a medium finish.
Conclusion: Good quality Australian SGM with an intense nose showing good complexity, with ripe black fruit and spicy notes. On the palate the wine has good lively acidity, with a robust structure, good tannin while the flavours are concentrated, with a decent length for the finish. It is ready to drink now and can further develop for another 2-3 years.
