Wednesday, June 13, 2018 - Very light red with minimal browning. A touch of VA but mostly (incredible as it seems) red fruit and mint on the nose with a whiff of leather as well. Delicate body. Beautiful faded strawberry fruit retained its natural sweetness and persisted for 90 minutes after the bottle was opened. Terrific acidity, orange peel, lots of soil, virtually no tannin. It might not have the supremely complex old Nebbiolo nose that is so haunting and leaves you speechless, but the beauty on the palate cannot be denied. When 1964 Piemontese wines are in as good condition as this was, they can still perform amazingly well. A beauty that seduced and charmed us.
