Sunday, October 21, 2018 - I'm generally not a big fan of Port, late harvest, and/or dessert wines, but this one was life changing! First had it at Shafer in 2017, where it was served (with a chocolate truffle) to conclude our tasting. It was so delicious, and a perfect pairing! I didn't purchase it, however, as I was already tapped out from purchasing several other of Shafer's fantastic wines. Well, I couldn't stop thinking about that Firebreak, and vowed to get a bottle on our next Shafer visit, which we did a few months ago.

Waited for a special occasion to open, and made sure that we had some chocolate truffles on hand, as well as some chocolate flourless cake. WOW! Heavenly nose, and chocolate covered cordial cherries on the palate. So good! Put it in the fridge and had it again a few nights later, and loved it just as much. A quick note that this is a 750ml bottle, making the price point twice as attractive.
