Saturday, February 3, 2024 - Popped and poured. Was quite surprised to find the wine a little dull and flat. Still obviously full of fruit and yet to shed its tannin in any meaningful way, but not really fun to drink. If I had to rate it - maybe 88 for enjoyment. We put the 1/2 we didn’t drink back in the fridge. Not expecting much the next day but kaboom. Explosive blackberry with lots of backend spices. Extremely enjoyable. 95+ it will continue to get better. Looking through the notes it seems to me most people are underestimating the necessary aeration - like I did.

Thank you for your comments - and I guess patience for this wine. My friend and I each had same reaction to this wine at that time, I'm much more sensitive to VA than him. I cannot get past any VA as much as folks say "Oh it blows off". That's fine- let them enjoy those wines. After 30 years of drinking wines, I'm not willing to wait 3 days for a wine with a VA to blow off.
