This seems mature, soft around the edges, the tannins are relaxed and the palate seems somewhat murky. More worn than a bottle with Yaacov almost two years ago. This has never really been a knock-out wine, and now it's mature but doesn't really deliver any tertiary or even much secondary greatness. This is a good, mature '98 Barolo, but it doesn't really provide a great Giacosa experience. No degradation overnight, which is a nice surprise, along with pretty strawberry pastile notes.
