Saturday, December 22, 2018 - When I first opened the bottle I noticed a tangible aroma of red currants, ripe figs and tobacco. An hour and a half into the bottle I get none of those aromas anymore. The wine is a typical modern Ripasso from Valpolicella. It compares well against its regional mates such as the Musella Valpolicella Superiore Classico (which used to be my favorite wine back in the days). It has a bit of tannic aftertaste but not as much as I would have liked. I'd love to try it side by side with its Amarone sibling.
