Sunday, May 1, 2005 - Deep purple. Ever slight hint of lighter purple ruby at the rim. Nose initially tight.. not showing anything but "In your face cassis" and tar. Opened up more at 3 hrs but not very expressive. Tobacco, stones, stalky! I agree with Eric... very "Dark", brooding on the palate. Moderate weight with good structure and body. Tannins are sweetish but reserved. Length is good but not up to par with other vintages of this wine that I have tried. This does not show well alone but does have the structure to pair with food well. In fact I would NOT recommend serving this wine without red meat or cheese accompaniment; in this case a well hung Prime Rib. I was going to follow with an older Diamond Creek cab... but the guests liked this so much that they insisted that we open another! ..... So I did!
