Sunday, April 14, 2019 - As with most Montelenas, this 1998 had aged well. Although from a not-so-great vintage, this showed very nicely with an aromatic nose of dark cherry, ripe blackcurrants, smoked meats, and loamy earth. Plush and round on the palate with cherry pie, ripe blackcurrants and hint of cola. Tannins fully resolved with medium acidity. This was decanted for 2 hours, but honestly this did not need it and I feel it might have done better without a decant (92-93)
