On the palate there’s some more energy with maybe M acid (more than other similarly priced Gewurztraminer I’ve had recently) and some lively spice like fresh ginger or maybe cardamom. Off dry though of course the flavor profile makes it come across sweeter than it actually is. We had this with glazed tofu in holiday ham style (with cloves and garlic et al), on a bed of ginger coconut rice, with a mixed tropical fruit salad (also with ginger). This wine really sings with the ginger notes, does well with the glazed tofu and rice in general, great with the tropical fruit obviously but not quite as good with the zesty citrus elements. I think ginger is the key to making Gewurztraminer work with savory dishes, and this is a pretty good bottle for trying that sort of pairing, but IMO you really have to shape the dish around the wine to make it come off. ~6-6.5/10
