Bad 'bottle stink' on opening, some sediment, so must be decanted. Bottle stink 'blew off' in about two hours.
Very little sign of ageing in the colour, a dark garnet red. Not totally pleasant on the nose: overripe plums and black fruit. Still tannic (as were a lot of the 2005s), but the body is thinning out and 'separating': tannin over here, alcohol over there and in between a dried out fruitiness which is beginning to lose the smoothness that characterises this wine at its best.
So, this CdR doesn't really last 13 years. I'll try the 2006 next and report back.
