Sunday, December 24, 2023 - Opened 6 hours in advance. Garnet center with tawny edge. Sharp fennel and licorice aromas. Medium weight, more dense than the Riojanas wine tasted next to it. Deep, serious black fruit and anise with outstanding acidity and a deep mineral base. It develops subtle sweetness and a bit of spice as it unfolds but still has substantial tannin to resolve. This wine has taken me on a rollercoaster ride over the years, but this was very impressive and shows that further patience will be rewarded. Less taut and more obvious flesh than Tondonia generally shows.

The next evening, more rich black cherry fruit became apparent.
