Somewhat translucent blackish-red color with a hint of developed maroon hue. The nose is dry and herbaceous with aromas of smoked bell pepper and chipotle, tobacco, some crunchy blackcurrants, a little bit of cigar, light sweet notes of wizened dark fruits, a hint of blueberry and a touch of strawberry jam. The wine is medium-bodied, tightly-knit and rather sinewy on the palate with pure flavors of tobacco, ripe blackcurrants, some earthy notes, a little bit of smoky character, light leathery tones, a hint of cooked bell pepper and a touch of sour cherry bitterness. With air, developed, meaty nuances start to emerge. The overall feel is pretty structured with the high acidity and stern, pretty grippy tannins. The finish is dry, earthy and grippy with flavors of crunchy dark fruits, vegetal bell pepper, some cigar tones, a little bit of earth, light meaty notes of game and a hint of ripe blackcurrant.

A very nicely tough, lean and unapologetic Cabernet Franc that tastes like Chinon but is built more like a left-bank Bordeaux. The wine might lack some of the finesse often shown by these aforementioned french counterparts, but the wine is nevertheless very enjoyable in its rough, unpolished rustic charm. It is pretty hard for current consumption, so I heartily recommend to pair it with something hearty enough to soften those tannins. Will reward aging. Let the wine wait for another 5-8 years just to soften the structure a little bit. Terrific value at 19,90€.
