93 Points

Friday, November 13, 2020 - Ready to drink from the pnp, but so much better 2 hours later.....spicy black zin fruit and a riveting acidity. Chalky tannins and bright red fruited ending with an extended finish of 20+ seconds. One of the best qpr of any wines I have ever bought. Matt Cline has aced another vintage in my book. Bordering on a 94 which is unheard of for such a commoner......

4/9/2021 2:15:00 PM - Mark - have you had other vintages of this wine with similar success? Looks like Wine Access currently has the ‘16 version for $16/btl if you buy a case (before discounts...$13/btl after). Crazy. Still, I don’t NEED another case of mid-week zin, but...too good to pass?

4/9/2021 2:58:00 PM - Hey Philly....btw, I grew up there! Yes, I have had numerous vintages of Matt Cline's zins going back to '10 I believe. The Live Oak and Evangelho vineyards have been my go to's.....this was the first vintage of the Bigelow for me. I don't think he made it before '15 and I'm wondering if he lost his contracts for the other two? I really loved them. This last bottle I had about 6 months ago was the best yet at 93 pts, but it needed a few hours of air to get there.

ps....I'd be tempted to buy the '16, it was a great vintage overall but my cellar is bursting at the seams, no room left!
