Saturday, March 26, 2022 - Sealed under screwcap. Medium pale garnet-carmel in color. Nose of fresh and dried cherries, mushrooms, a hint of baking spices, minerals, fresh forest, a bit of decomposing soil. Light bodied, mostly resolved, but still very fresh. Fresh cherries, juniper, dried cranberry, and some black pepper for the palate. A light tannin structure on the back of the tongue is still present and brings in a faint tea taste that lasts with the finish. Long sour cherry, black pepper, graphite, and granite finish.

I am more and more convinced that screwcap wines will age wonderfully and have no concern buying them up when I see these 10-20 year old wines on WineBid. I am convinced if this was under cork – it may have not lasted this long. I don’t think this wine was intended to be a deep wine even when young – but it managed to age gracefully.
