Friday, March 1, 2024 - Pitch dark in the glass, with a pure nose of black currants, very primary. Nice acidity, medium tannins, the palate is an explosion of black currants with some notes of plums in the background - very precise and fruit driven at this stage. Tannins are not overpowering - a sign of the vintage - and secondary notes of pencil shavings are emerging. The ending is balanced and long, with some cedar wood and a hint of cloves.
Very nice wine in a great spot already. Not sure how much it will improve with cellaring - I honestly think this is just delicious right now - but there is definitely no rush as this will keep (evolving) for at least a decade.
