Friday, December 1, 2023 - The 2017 Léoville Poyferré has closed down a bit since I last tasted it, but with some coaxing shows a demure nose of red cherry, fresh leather, a little cocoa, a little rose, and a pleasant cedary note. The palate shows cured meat and pencil and, though it's aromatically not as jubilant as it was at the EP tastings (which is to be expected), the tannin suggests it might not be all that far from drinking.
