Sunday, November 5, 2023 - This fairy-tale Château, surrounded by a beautiful park, is situated in the southern Haut-Médoc not far from Bordeaux-City. Due to the large production (about 250 thousand bottles/year) this cru classé is widely available, the quality is generally good to very good but seldom sensational and the price always very reasonable (this cost me 22,5€ in 2020). I have very fond memories of vintages 1989, 2009 and 2010. Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with about 5% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot this is for me one of the least interesting vintages I drank so far. With a bouquet of cedar and new oak and on the palate red fruit, this is certainly not a bad wine but the middle-taste is hollow and the aftertaste short with, for me, a disturbing dominant acidity. I fear that this wine has not enough stuffing for a favourable evolution in the future.
