Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - Root Day - Tried and enjoyed the 2018 so ordered it for the store. Received some 2018 and some 2017. 🤨 So I brought a bottle of the 2017 home to see how it compares to the 2018.
Strawberry with orange tints in the glass - showing maturity. Nose of raspberry and strawberry, faded rose petals and dried herbs. On the palate, minerality hits first with dried strawberry and orange zest. Seems light and a bit faded on the palate but the long finish has the strawberry, orange, dried florals, and some saline and minerality. Medium plus acidity keeps it alive - very light on the tannins (any that were there are mature and soft). Very good and quite pleasant - can drink by itself as opposed to the 2018 which needs food. At the end of its tenure though - definitely a drink this summer wine.
