Saturday, December 11, 2021 - Another one of my cheap WineBid whims. Dark ruby-garnet. Rich nose of stewed cherries, decomposing leaves, sweet baking spaces, vanilla, and cedar. Medium-light bodied with a good bit of acidity. It has that simple Merlot profile of stewed tart black cherries, tea, tomato leaf, and a hint of cedar. Still some tannins left. Medium short finish of black tea, nutmeg, and tart cherries.
Very much alive and much better than what I was expecting. However, this Merlot reminds me a lot of why I didn’t care for Merlots of this era – a bit too one dimensional on the cherry profile.
