Saturday, September 7, 2019 - Bought a 6b case of magnums from Binny's for 30/mag 12 years ago; this is #4. Decanted with normal sediment for its age and format. Dark purple; blackcurrant nose, hint of leather, following onto the palate; good mouthfeel. Tasty with some years of life ahead, unlikely to improve. Glad I have more as a good everyday Bdx, esp. for a dinner group. One of four reds (three cab-based) shared over dinner with a small group of wine friends: this had third place among those with more experience. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.
