Saturday, December 5, 2020 - This was included in an article about over-performing inexpensive reds, so I picked up a bottle and drank with margherita pizza. Agree with all notes below, particularly the earthy comment, which I wouldn't have expected from a cheap table wine (I paid $11). I also got some pepper from this, kind of a syrah note, although it's made from sangiovese, CS and merlot. According to Banfi's website, it's made in a very slightly sweet style (~3.5 RS) and on the low end of acidity, so some may find it too jammy but it's just on the outer acceptable edge of that spectrum for me and a good foil for an acidic meal, e.g., with tomato-based sauce.
