Friday, May 11, 2012 - Purchased by PD upon release, this bottle looked nice with a VTS fill. The cork was quite long but came out intact. The wine had a very deep red center and the light red rims had just a touch of orange.

The high- intensity nose showed black cherries, plum, gravel, vanilla, and led pencil. As one would expect from the foregoing, This wine was still on the young side but drinking well. Like most '82s, it is rich and ripe with lovely rounded tannin and excellent length. This will continue to gain complexity for another decade or two. Give it 4 hours of air, if you can, if drinking it now. I would expect my score to improve by a point or 2 in 10+ years.
