Friday, May 20, 2005 - I double-decanted around 6 pm. Some bricking on the edges, but what a fabulous bouquet, just powered out of the decanter and filled the room. Nose of tabacco, lead pencil, cedar and liquorice. The wine was poured about 10 and was just as nice for the first 10 min, but then the nose settled down a bit. On the weighty pallet, the sweet fruit mingled with the cedary classic Pauillac taste into a decently long finish. Almost elegant, which is not typically what I think of about LB. I picked this bottle up at auction last year and I think it is "a pointe" now, but better stored versions may have longer to go. Outclassed the pristine 1990 tasted side by side, but the 1990 will be as good, may be better, in a few years. Great stuff.
