90 Points

Monday, May 18, 2020 - I previously had the 2001 and 2014 vintages of this wine. Not a Beaujolais that I seek out but it was on sale for $10. 75% of the vines owned by the Descombes family are more than 50 years old and planted in the best locations in Beaujolais (La Py, La Roche, La Pillee, Les Pillets and Bellvue). This was better than those previous vintages. Not as flowery as I expected. Garnet red color. Notes of ripe berries, plum and stone fruit. Medium bodied.90 points
