Wednesday, January 9, 2008 - The vintage broods no introduction. Most regarded the communes of of St. Emilion and Pomerol to have fared the best producing some of the finest wines in the whole vintage. The winemaker described their 2000 vintage as deep and dense. Fruity with an exotic touch, spicy and long-lived. Robert Parker - Wine Advocate # 146 Apr 2003 described the 2000 Comtesse as one of the finest second wines this estate has produced.

13.0%. Blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, and 6% Cabernet Franc. Decanted for 2 hours. It may not be the cream of Pauillacs as its parent but it does offer some nice cassis feel. Medium-bodied. Still a bit green. While not lush, it's pricey for this vintage but attractively well-made with a herbal finish. Looking forward to re-tasting this vintage. Drink between 2008 and 2014. For the rest of my write-up, tasting notes and wine photography, please visit www.winekakis.com.
