As the nose opens it reveals a complex amalgam of stewed berry, leather, pepper and cigar. Big fruity compote on the palate with secondary flavours developing and though unfashionable slight hints of portiness. Great length, oak and tannins integrated with enough acid to hold it in check. Well into its drinking window but should hold for a few more years.
