Thursday, January 6, 2011 - Decanted for about 45 minutes. Dark, inky purple color. Pepper, smoked meat, stems, blackberries, and a hint of cherry on the nose. The nose is NOT fruit dominated, the fruit elements paly a backup role, which to me is a nice change of pace. Medium body with a solid tannic backbone and very nice acidity. Decent length on the finish, which does show a bit more of the fruit but still retains the black pepper. Not a fruit forward wine. If you like loads of pepper, try this wine, I love it.
