Monday, February 7, 2011 - Medium-dark red. Strong nose of heavy toast oak, dark chocolate, black raspberry, prune, and an acetic element. Medium acid, medium-low tannin. The oak comes to the fore increasingly here, both with age in the bottle and with air, once opened. Gobs of very ripe, baked raspberry pie lead the flavors and tangy acids finish up. Some finishing heat at the back of the throat distracts from an otherwise rich, ripe and enjoyable zin. Bottle #12 of 12
