Sunday, January 23, 2011 - How wonderful to experience the first 2000 vintage Bordeaux from my cellar. We decanted the wine 1 hour before dinner. The wine was accompanied by lamb chops on the grill.
Color was brilliant ruby red with plenty of deep rich color.
Nose was wonderful! Quite expressive with lots of chocolate, cedar, earthiness. What came across was a wine with plenty of character and complexity.
Taste had a silky entry, with a full rich middle palate, showing the excellence of the vintage. Superb mature tannins all in balance with the fruit and acidity. A lovely finish. I was very happy with what this wine showed in terms of the vintage. I have many bottles of 2000 Bordeaux in the cellar and it was a great preview of what is to come!!!
