Friday, October 2, 2020 - This was a serious departure from the last tasting. The last tasting had gorgeous ripe fruit which was very expressive although there was a lot of tannins. This wine has now shut down which is not surprising and is a typical part of its evolution. This is certainly built to last and should easily be at its best from age 10 to 20, possibly longer. This tasting had dense concentration with monolithic dark cherry Earth and fruit but loads of tannins. even with a few hours of breathing it really did not open up much. if I were to try it again soon I would certainly let it breathe for several hours. That being said I think probably I would like to wait at least a year if not longer to retry and that's only because I have a decent quantity of it. for those who only have a few bottles I would not open my first one until this wine was 10 years old. Highly recommended and likely meriting a much higher score. 92-95
