96 Points

Friday, March 16, 2007 - After recent disappointments with white burgundies from the 90s, this was a wine to restore one's faith. From the bottle, it was a clear, clean, light and bright; a pale gold in colour. The nose was fresh, with juicy lime, marzipan and almonds; some elderflower and honeysuckle; some biscuity and yeasty aromas; all underpinned by a marmite-like meatiness. There's weight on the palate, and grip too from some pronounced but well-balanced acidity. The lime flavours come through from the nose, but there's some trademark minerality, steeliness and gunflint - all with just enough sweetness to bring everything into balance. The wine grows in the mouth, coats the rear palate, and its memorable finish goes on and on for minutes. Superb.
