Friday, April 19, 2019 - 2018 Visit to Domaine Faiveley (Nuits St. Georges): The volumes of the Echezeaux in 2017 were affected by the 2016 frost, we were told. A step up in qualiy to the first of the Grand Crus. On the nose, perfumed, with violets and other dark florals, blackcurrants and dark cherries and a little spice. Lovely aromatics. Excellent fruit on palate. Black fruited and mineral. "It starts closed, slowly opens then is very long", as Andrew said. Lovely texture and mouthfeel. Right now, unsurprisingly, it's a little tight and linear, but I'd expect the Echezeauz to really blossom in 8-10 years.
