Saturday, February 14, 2009 - {ST} Color deep dark red with purple hues, medium body - lighter than expected. Nose has very nice depth of black currant, some mint and pine, perhaps oak. Dark, layered fruit on the palate with sophisticated structure of fine grained tannins. Overall very good depth and clearly a step above other wines tasted in the 12 to 16 dollar range, but not fully convinced of the 94 score and 30 tag at this stage. Perhaps with time this will pick up steam and nuance.
