Thursday, April 23, 2015 - Medium ruby throughout. Red fruit and herbs on the nose. Medium weight in modern Chateauneuf terms. Everything is in place here-dark raspberry and plum fruit, spice, and garrigue. Enveloping entry followed by crisp acidity, minerality, and some remaining tannic grip. Pretty classic profile and not a bit too heavy or ripe. I was surprised to see that this was the first time I'd tasted this vintage of Vieux Donjon, but as with many of the 2005's, I pretty much buried them and forgot about them. There is no rush, but based upon this bottle, it seems like a pretty good time to take a look at this if you have not already.
